BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball dropped a three-set decision to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday at the Mueller Sports Complex. OKWU picked up a 25-20, 25-13, 25-20 win over the Coyotes.
The loss snaps KWU's 12-match winning streak, and was the first loss in KCAC play for the Coyotes.
The first set was close until OKWU pulled out to a 14-9 lead midway through the set. The Coyotes got back within two at 19-17 on a service ace by
Kori Arnold, but could get no closer the rest of the way as the Eagles took the first set.
It was tied 3-3 in the second set, when OKWU got four straight points to take a 7-3 lead. The teams traded points through a long run in the set before OKWU got three in a row to make it 17-10. The Coyotes got no closer the rest of the set as the Eagles took the second 25-13.
KWU fell behind early in the third, but battled back to tie it at 16-all on a kill by
Rylee Serpan, and later took am 18-17 lead in the set. OKWU would close the set on a 8-3 run to grab the set and match victory.
Serpan had nine kills to lead the Coyotes who hit just .132 in the match as a team.
Gianna Adriaanse had six kills.
Josie Deckinger had 25 kills.
Kelcey Hund had eight digs.
KWU will return to action on Wednesday, heading to North Newton to take on Bethel. The Coyotes return home on Saturday, taking on Friends at 11 a.m. inside Mabee Arena as part of Homecoming Weekend activities.
