Cayden Andersen's 48th minute goal was the difference maker for the Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer team as the Coyotes picked up a 1-0 win over the Bethel Threshers on Wednesday night at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The victory pushes Wesleyan's record to 10-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the KCAC. It's the first 10-win season for the Coyotes since the 2019 campaign.
The Threshers tried to challenge early as Mussawir Ahmed had a shot in the first minute of the match, but KWU keeper
Santiago Pagnutti made a great sprawling save to keep the Threshers off the board.
Neither team had many looks at scoring in the first half as the teams played to a scoreless first half.
Quickly in the second, the Coyotes were on the board. Andersen received a ball from
Abaenya Nundu over the middle and outraced three defenders and the Bethel keeper and was able to find the left side-netting for the goal.
The Coyotes had several other chances at goals snubbed due to offside calls as KWU was called offside seven times in the second half.
Jesus Genaro Macias led the Coyotes with two shots as Bethel outshot KWU 9-6 in the match. Pagnutti preserved the clean sheet with four saves.
Up next for the Coyotes is a key match on Saturday at Friends in Wichita.
