LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Soccer faced the Bethany Swedes on Wednesday afternoon, coming away with a 1-0 win.
The victory extended Wesleyan's unbeaten streak over the Swedes to 21 matches, as KWU is 20-0-1 since 2005. It's eight straight wins for the Coyotes as well since a draw in 2015 in the series.
The match was moved up to a 1 p.m. kickoff to avoid any potential weather that could have caused a delay for the match that ultimately never materialized.
Wesleyan was on the offensive in the match, outshooting the defensive-minded Swedes 16-3 in the match, including a dominating 11-1 advantage in the second half.
Allison Blumenthal recorded another clean sheet in goal for the Coyotes, not recording a save in the match.
The match was headed toward stalemate status until
Leoni Enzlmuller provided the difference maker in the 70
th minute.
Following a Bethany foul, Enzlmuller sent a long direct kick in and went top shelf over the keepers head and in for the goal.
Precious Nwosu led the Coyotes with three shots.
Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, hosting the Southwestern Moundbuilders in the regular season finale at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
