Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball got out to a slow start in the first set on Wednesday night inside Mabee Arena, but quickly regrouped, and regrouped in a big way.
The Coyotes closed out the first set with a 25-23 win and went on to dominating 25-12 and 25-9 wins in the final two sets to close out the sweep of the Bethany Swedes.
Wesleyan trailed 15-9 in the first set when the rally started. A couple points, on a
Gianna Adriaanse kill and a service ace by
Sarah Girard got the Coyotes going. Bethany got a point back before Wesleyan rattled off four in a row capped by Adriaanse's kill to make it 16-15.
Trailing 18-16, the Coyotes went on a 3-0 run to take the lead for the first time in the set since leading 2-1 off back-to-back Bethany errors. The Swedes tied it at 19 before three more by the Coyotes capped by a block by
Sarah Girard and
Rylee Serpan made it 22-19 KWU. The Coyotes had set point at 24-20, but Bethany scored the next three to make it 24-23, but Serpan's big kill capped the set win.
The second set was tied 2-2 when the Coyotes scored four straight to take a 6-2 lead. Bethany got no closer than 8-5 the rest of the set as the Coyotes pulled out to a 12-5 lead after Adriaanse's service ace. Leading 14-7, the Coyotes scored three straight, two on Serpan kills to make it 17-7. The Coyotes continued to pull away winning the set 25-12.
Leading 4-3 in the last, the Coyotes pulled away in a big way, using a 10-0 run to make it 14-3, with five of the 10 points coming on Serpan kills. Kills by

Sarah Girard and a Bethany error made it 20-7 and it was 21-9 when the Coyotes closed things out scoring the final four points of the set, and match, to win 25-9.
Wesleyan's numbers in the match were impressive. The Coyotes had 44 kills in three sets, scoring 51 offensive points. KWU hit .453 as a team for the match, including hitting at a .625 clip in the dominating third set.
Serpan led the Coyotes with 18 kills that included seven in both the second and third sets. Harris had eight kills, Kyla Morre had seven and Adriaanse had five. Deckinger had 38 assists in the match and eight digs.
Kelcey Hund had 10 digs to lead the Coyotes.
The Coyotes are back in action on Saturday, heading to Winfield to take on Southwestern.
