HASTINGS, Neb. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball posted a 2-0 record on the first day of the Hastings College Classic, picking up wins over Mid-America Christian and Dickinson State, both in straight sets.
The wins push Wesleyan's record to 4-0 to start the season, the best start for the Coyotes since starting the fall 2021 season with a 4-0 mark.
KWU 3, MACU 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-16): The Coyotes opened with a 3-0 win over the Mid-America Christian Evangels.
Rylee Serpan had 14 kills to lead the Coyotes, while recording a .407 hitting percentage for the match. The Coyotes hit .202 as a team. Josie Decking led the way with 32 assists and added a pair of service aces.
Kelcey Hund had 13 digs for the Coyotes.
KWU 3, DSU 0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20): The Coyotes hit .211 as a team and saw three players (Serpan,
Kylee Harris and
Megan Peeler) tally more than five kills in the match. Serpan led the way with nine, while Peeler added eight and Harris seven. Deckinger dished out another 28 assists.
Sarah Girard had four service aces. Kyle Moore had three blocks to lead the Coyotes.
Kelcey Hund had 21 digs.
The Coyotes return to action on Saturday, taking on Culver-Stockton at 10 a.m., and host Hastings at 2 p.m.
