Women’s Volleyball posts 1-3 record at challenging Sioux City Tournament

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball faced four opponents in the Sioux City Tournament this weekend, three of which were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches poll, and the Coyotes posted a 1-3 record in the four matches.
 
The Coyotes first faced No. 3 ranked Northwestern (Iowa) falling in three sets 25-11, 25-11, 25-17.
 
Rylee Serpan had seven kills to lead the Coyotes in the match while Kylee Harris added four. Josie Deckinger had 15 assists for the Coyotes in the match and Kelcy Hund had 17 digs.
 
KWU picked up its win on the weekend, next facing Indiana East, winning in four sets 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 25-23.
 
Serpan continued to pace the Coyote offense in the match with 16 kills while Harris added 14. Deckinger had 41 assists to go along with eight digs. Hund had 25 assists and Sarah Girard added three blocks.
 
On Saturday, the Coyotes opened facing No. 2 ranked Concordia, falling in three sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-14.
 
Harris led the Coyotes with nine kills in the match, while Serpan and Gianna Adriaanse had six each. Deckinger had 25 assists, and Hund had 12 digs. Serpan paced the blockers with three blocks.
 
KWU wrapped up the tournament facing former No. 1 ranked, now No. 17 ranked, and defending national champion Jamestown and fell in three sets 25-23, 25-16, 25-13.
 
Serpan had another monster match with 17 kills, and added four digs and a block. Deckinger had 24 assists, and Hund had 14 digs.
 
The Coyotes are back in action this week, heading to Fort Hays State on Wednesday, before hosting the KWU Coyote Classic on Friday and Saturday in Mabee Arena and Muir Gym.
