BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Kansas Wesleyan gave up three late goals to the No. 2 Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Saturday as the Coyotes fell 3-1 to the Eagles at the OKWU Soccer Pitch.
The loss snaps KWU's five-match winning streak and six-match unbeaten streak.
The Coyotes took a 1-0 lead in the final minute of the first half as
Mika Wernicke scored on a shot following an Oklahoma Wesleyan foul and yellow card.
The Coyotes would have to play down a player in the last 20 minutes of the match after a second yellow card was issued to a Coyote player in the match, and the Eagles took advantage.
The Eagles got the equalizer goal in the 69th minute, and then took the lead in the 77th minute. The Eagles added to their lead in the 85th.
OKWU had a 20-8 advantage in shots over the Coyotes.
KWU returns to action on Wednesday at Bethel.
