Coming off an upset win over No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball team went the distance against a very talented Bethel College team on Wednesday inside Mabee Arena.
The Threshers would come away with a five set win over the Coyotes 25-18, 26-28, 25-17, 23-25, 15-13.

Josie Deckinger's kill but Bethel built a 9-5 margin. The Threshers pushed the difference out to 16-8 in the set, and led 22-14 when the Coyotes scored four straight points to make it 22-18. Bethel won the set scoring the final three points.
The second set went back and forth to start until Bethel built an 8-4 lead. Bethel held onto the lead despite the Coyotes getting back within a point several times. Finally the Coyotes tied the set at 18-all on
Rylee Serpan's kill, but Bethel grabbed the lead back on the next point.
The scoring again went back and forth as Bethel led 23-21. The Coyotes scored the next three all on Bethel errors to have a chance at set point. After a timeout, the Coyotes scored the next two to take a 25-24 lead, but the Coyotes tied it on a service error. Bethel had its own set point try at 26-25, but the Coyotes got a block by Deckinger and
Kate Bebout to tie it, and a kill from
Sara Bebout and then a
Kate Bebout service ace gave the set to the Coyotes.
Bethel led 6-2 in the third set, but four straight points by the Coyotes tied things up. Bethel scored seven of the next eight points to take a 13-7 lead and the margin was too much for the Coyotes.
Wesleyan took an early 7-3 lead in the fourth set, but Bethel came back and took a 10-9 lead. Bethel pushed its lead out to 20-13 and were poised to complete the victory, but the Coyotes had other ideas.
Bethel led 22-16 when freshman
Madelyn Wolf entered the match and provided an immediate spark with a kill, coupled with the service game of
Kori Arnold, the Coyotes scored the next seven points to take a 23-22 lead on a kill by
Gianna Adriaanse. Bethel tied it at 23, but back to back Adriaanse kills gave the set to the Coyotes.
Wesleyan led 4-3 in the deciding set, but Bethel scored the next four to take a 7-4 lead. A kill by Adriaanse tied the set at 8-8 but Bethel built a slight enough lead to hold on. KWU faced a match point at 14-12 but got a Wolf kill to get within a point, but Bethel would win it on a kill.
