LEAVENWORTH –
Precious Nwosu's 83rd minute goal was the difference as the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes defeated the University of Saint Mary Spires on Saturday at Berkel Stadium.
The victory keeps the Coyotes unbeaten in the KCAC at 6-0 and improved KWU's record to 6-4-1 overall.
Nwosu's goal came as the ball was sent into the box by
Leslie Serrato into a mess of players for both teams. Nwosu was able to gain control, spin to her right and fire upper-near-90 for the goal.
KWU had plenty of scoring chances in the match, including early tries by
Grace Conner and
Emma Gervy.
KWU dominated the shots 27-11 in the match led by six from Nwosu.
Isabella Galvan had another clean sheet in goal with three saves.
The Coyotes get a week off, returning to action next Saturday taking on Avila University at 2 p.m. at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
