THE SERIES
  • The Coyotes defeated Sterling 99-94 in double overtime last January in the only game between the two schools. The victory ended the Warriors' four-game winning streak against KWU. They had also won seven of the previous nine. Sterling has a 27-16 advantage since December 2005.
  • Friends won both games last season defeating the Coyotes 84-61 in November in Salina and 70-43 in January in Wichita. KWU had won the previous three games. The Falcons have won 22 of the last 40 games dating back to February 2006.

KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes are on a roll having won their last five games including a 77-59 non-conference victory over Bellevue in their final game before the Thanksgiving break. They are one of four teams sitting at 3-0 in the KCAC — Sterling, Friends, and Tabor the other three. KWU defeated conference foes Ottawa, McPherson, and Oklahoma Wesleyan prior to Thanksgiving.
  • LaMyah Ricks is the leading scorer (13.0) with Jill Stephens close behind (11.9). Angel Lee (8.6), Odessa Ozuna (8.4) and Hampton Williams (7.7) give KWU a balance thrust. Stephens has a team-best 23 3-pointers (23-58, 43 percent). Jocelyn Hall is the top rebounder (6.0).
  • KWU averages 77 points, shoots 46 percent overall (35 percent from the 3-point arc) and 71 percent from the free throw line. Opponents average 67 points and shoot 37 percent (35.4 percent from deep). The Coyotes outrebound the opposition by nearly six per game.

STERLING AT A GLANCE
  • After a sub-par season a year ago, the Warriors appear to be back on track. They've won three in a row, defeating Avila 73-65 on the road in their game before the break. Their only loss was at Doane 92-73 on November 12.
  • Korynn Clason, a senior guard, averages a team-leading 19.6 points followed by McKenna Vogl (12.8) and Alissa Heskamp (11.9). Vogl is the top rebounder (7.1).
  • Sterling averages 79.5 points and shoots 49.7 percent overall, 33 percent from 3-point range. Opponents average 59 points and shoot 39 percent, 27.8 percent from long range. The Warriors outrebound their opponents by just over 11 per game.

FRIENDS AT A GLANCE
  • After opening the season 2-3 the Falcons had won three in a row against KCAC opponents – the latest conquest a 69-59 victory over York in Wichita before the break. Their losses were to Cottey, Dakota Wesleyan and Texas Wesleyan.
  • Senior center Taylor Jackson leads Friends in scoring (14.1) and rebounding (12.3). Kori Babcock averages 13.8 points and Lauryn McIver 12.9. Babock has a team-best 21 3-pointers.
  • Friends is scoring 66 points and allows 62.3. The Falcons are shooting 39 percent, 23.2 percent from the 3-point line. They outrebound the opposition by 9.0 per game but average 17.6 turnovers while forcing 12.
