Kansas Wesleyan plays Ottawa on Monday in makeup game in the first of three Kansas Conference contests this week that will close out the regular season.

THE SERIES 
  • Ottawa defeated the Coyotes 84-74 December 6 in Ottawa in the first game this season. The Braves have won the last two after KWU won four in a row.  The Coyotes are 17-4 at home against the Braves and have a 28-14 lead in the series since February 2006.  

KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes are in a three-way battle with Bethany and Evangel for fourth place in the KCAC standings. Evangel is 13-7, KWU 12-7 and Bethany 12-8. KWU plays conference leader Tabor on Wednesday in Hillsboro and is at home against York on Saturday. The KCAC tournament begins February 28.
  • Ottawa pulled away in the fourth quarter for the victory in the first game. The Coyotes shot 32 percent including 8 of 33 from long distance. Alexis Dixon had 15 points, Jill Stephens 14 and LaMyah Ricks 12 for KWU.
  • The Coyotes defeated Southwestern 89-74 Saturday in Mabee Arena for their fourth victory in the last five games. They outscored the Moundbuilders 51-39 the second half and were 14 of 33 from beyond the 3-point arc for the game. Stephens had 20 points and Ricks 15 points and nine rebounds. Dixon added 12 points and Angel Lee 11.

OTTAWA AT A GLANCE
  • The Braves lost to Bethany 74-46 Saturday in Lindsborg. They entered game having won three of four. The Swedes led 33-16 at halftime and 54-27 after three quarters. Ottawa shot 29.6 percent and was outrebounded 41-23.
  • Ottawa is 5-6 since junior forward Abby Dietsche was sidelined with an injury. She was averaging 13 points and 7.2 rebounds when she departed. Dietsche, a former Pittsburg State signee, had 21 points and eight rebounds in the first game against the Coyotes.
  • Junior guard Kennedy Bankett is the Braves' top scorer at 14.8 points. She had scored at least 21 points in four consecutive games but was limited to six against Bethany. The Braves average 72 points and allow 68.
