Women's Basketball enters big final week to regular season at Tabor Wednesday, hosting York Saturday

Kansas Wesleyan concludes the regular season with Kansas Conference games at Tabor on Wednesday and York at home Saturday.

THE SERIES 
  • Tabor has won four of the last five including a 77-61 victory in the first game this season January 6 inside Mabee Arena. The Coyotes are 7-12 in Hillsboro since February 2006 and Tabor leads the series 22-18 during that time.  
  • KWU has won seven in a row against York and leads the series 17-3. The Coyotes are 8-0 at home against the Panthers since November 2005. They won 75-64 on January 10 in York, Nebraska in the first game this season.

  • The Coyotes are tied for fourth with Evangel in the KCAC standings, one game ahead of Bethany (12-8). Evangel is at Ottawa on Wednesday and at home against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday; Bethany is at Saint Mary on Wednesday and plays Southwestern on Saturday in Lindsborg. The KCAC tournament begins February 28.
  • The Coyotes defeated Ottawa 73-62 Monday inside Mabee Arena as LaMyah Ricks scored 20 points and Angel Lee 17. It was their fifth victory in the last six games. KWU led by 27 points midway through the fourth quarter and shot 57 percent the second half (16 of 28).
  • Tabor led 40-27 at halftime in the first game this season. The Coyotes shot 37 percent and were led by Ricks with 14 points and Brooke Strine with 12 and eight rebounds. Daijane Adams and Lee each scored 10.
 

TABOR AT A GLANCE
  • The Bluejays have won 10 consecutive games, their last loss to Bethany 66-61 on January 13 in Lindsborg. They defeated Bethel 57-48 last Wednesday and Friends 61-45 on Saturday, both games in Hillsboro.
  • Tabor is typically getting it done with defense. Opponents are averaging just 56 points per game – conference opponents 52.7 points. Opposing team are shooting 39 percent overall and 28 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. The Bluejays themselves average 67.7 points.
  • Senior forward Alyvia Owens leads a balanced scoring attack with an 11.8 average. Kassidy Beam averages 8.8 points and freshman guard Lillie Veer 8.3. Veer scored 16 and Owens 14 as Tabor shot 53.7 percent in the first game against KWU.

YORK AT A GLANCE
  • The Panthers defeated Bethel 83-78 Saturday in York and are 4-4 in their last eight games. They lost to Oklahoma Wesleyan 75-70 last Wednesday also in York. They had lost seven in a row before the recent surge.
  • Arcadya Conway scored 22, Imani Honey 17 and Britney Schroer 14 but the Panthers shot just 35.5 percent overall in the first game against KWU. Honey scored 17 and Jess Mcgrath 16 against Bethel on Saturday.
  • Schroer is the team's top scorer (9.8 points) followed by Honey (8.9) and Ashley Rubio (8.1). York averages 68 points and allows 78 points per game. The Panthers also average 21.3 turnovers per contest.
