Kansas Wesleyan plays a midweek game on the road and returns home this weekend in a pair of Kansas Conference contests.

THE SERIES 
  • The Coyotes have won three of the last four and nine of last 12 against Bethany. KWU defeated the Swedes 73-59 December 2 in Mabee Arena in the first game this season. The Coyotes are 21-18 against Bethany since December, 2005 and are 9-9 in Lindsborg during that time.
  • KWU has won four in a row and five of six against Ottawa but the Braves have a 24-17 advantage since January, 2006. The Coyotes won 77-67 on December 6 in Ottawa in the first game this season but are 9-11 at home against the Braves since 2006.   

KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes lost to Evangel 89-85 in overtime in Springfield, Missouri last Wednesday but bounced back with a 75-65 victory over McPherson on Saturday in Mabee Arena. Evangel scored the last seven points in regulation to force OT. Izaiah Hale led KWU with 23 points while Jun Murdock had 13 and Alex Littlejohn 11. The Coyotes trailed McPherson 14-4 early on, but the game was tied 32-32 at halftime. They took control with scoring runs of 11-0 and 10-0 in the second half. Littlejohn scored 19 – 17 in the second half – and Murdock had 18 on his birthday.
  • Easton Hunter became the school's career leader in made 3-pointers during the McPherson game. His first half three gave him 216 and broke Blake Turner's record of 215 set in 2000. Hunter, a guard from Andale, had another three in the second half giving him 217 heading into this week.
  • Littlejohn had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Murdock 14 points against Bethany in the first game. Murdock and Littlejohn scored 15 apiece and Caden Hale had 14 against Ottawa the first time. Littlejohn also had 13 rebounds and Thurbil Bile 14 to go along with 11 points.
  • The Coyotes are third in the KCAC standings one game behind Southwestern and two behind Oklahoma Wesleyan. McPherson and Evangel are tied for fourth at 10-6. 

BETHANY AT A GLANCE
  • The Swedes have lost five in a row and 15 of 16. Their last victory was over York 72-70 on January 17 in York, Nebraska. They were beaten by Friends 79-72 Wednesday in Wichita and are just 1-8 at home this season.
  • Junior guard Maurice Cujo II leads the team in scoring (13.4) and is followed by junior swingman Jamal Frenchwood (10.7) who leads the team in rebounding (6.2). Frenchwood scored 20 against the Coyotes in December.
  • The Swedes are getting outrebounded by eight per game and average 16 turnovers. They're scoring 63.5 points per game, allowing 77.3 and are shooting 40.6 percent from the field, 30 percent from beyond the arc.

OTTAWA AT A GLANCE
  • The Braves have won three of their last four including an 83-75 victory over Bethel on Saturday in North Newton. They also won at Avila and Sterling and lost to Oklahoma Wesleyan 84-67 last Wednesday in Ottawa. OU is 8-4 on the road this season but just 5-5 at home.
  • Jayden Hibbitt averages a team-high 20.4 points and is shooting 50.3 percent from the field including a KCAC-best 44.4 percent from 3-point range. He had 31 points Saturday against Bethel. Deondre Buggage averages 18.1 points and had 20 against KWU in the first game. Hibbitt and Buggage rank second and third in scoring in the KCAC; Angok Anyang is the top rebounder at 10.1 and ranks second in the KCAC.
  • Ottawa averages 81 points and surrenders 79. The Braves are shooting 44 percent overall, 34 percent from long distance. Opponents are shooting 42 and 32 percent respectively.
