Baseball falls to Friends 9-3 in series opener

WICHITA – It was a good start to Friday afternoon's game for the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes at Westside Field, but the Friends Falcons would turn the tides and come away with a 9-3 win over the Coyotes.

Wesleyan opened the game taking a 2-0 lead on a homer by Kendall Foster and later an RBI single by Cruz Oxford to put the Coyotes.

However, Friends answered back in the bottom of the first with five runs to take a 5-2 lead. The Falcons added another in the second and three more in the sixth to lead 9-2.

The Coyotes got one run back in the seventh on Jarrett Gable's RBI double.

Gable had three hits to lead the Coyotes while Foster and Oxford had two each.

Jarrett Brannen suffered the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out seven.

The teams will meet again on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at Noon.
