WICHITA – A slight schedule change and another meet cancellation formed the Friends University Pre-Conference Qualifier held on Saturday at Adair-Austin Stadium.
The Coyotes did not go to the Zach Kindler Invitational hosted by Baker University in Baldwin City, instead taking a small group of field athletes to the meet in Wichita.
The meet came into existence Friday evening after the Southwestern meet was canceled in Winfield, and several teams needed chances to hit qualifying marks before conference championships and the end of the season.
Keegan Lott and James Preston highlighted the men's finishers. Lott won the javelin throw with a mark of 53.96m. Preston won the long jump with a mark of 6.43m.
Grace Conner was the lone women's athlete to compete in the meet winning the high jump, clearing 1.5m, before missing all three tries at 1.60m.
Keyon Baccus finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.93m and fifth in the discus with a mark of 37.58m.
Cody Flax placed fourth in the hammer with a mark of 41.04m.
This is the final meet for the Coyotes before next week's KCAC Championships at Saint Mary in Leavenworth.
