Men’s Track and Field competes at Friends Spring Invitational

Kansas Wesleyn Men's Track and Field faced a strong pool of competition from all levels at the 2024 Friends University Spring Invitational that ran from Thursday through Saturday at Adair-Austin Stadium at Friends University.
 
Dylan Worrell placed second in the shot put with a mark of 14.37m, Keegan Lott finished fourth with a mark of 14.32m, Keyon Baccus finished 14th with a mark of 12.32m and Simeon Faagai finished 15th with a mark of 12.11m.
 
Carter Huyser picked up a second place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:54.89. Julian Avila was seventh in 1:57.83, Ty Davidsson was eighth in 1:59.84, Wyatt Johnson was ninth in 2:00.76, Triston Cottone was 12th in 2:01.41, Nicolas Martinez was 20th in 2:03.85, Giovanni Rios was 35th in 2:11.94 and Roman Mai was 41st in 2:17.40.
 
Keegan Lott finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 43.58m, Simeon Faagai was eighth with a mark of 40.05m, Keyon Baccus was 12th with a mark of 38.83m, and Dylan Worrell was 22nd with a mark of 34.88m.
 
In the hammer throw, Simeon Faagai finished seventh with a mark of 46.16m and Cody Flax finished 17th with a mark of 37.63m.
 
The 4x100m relay team of Tyler Fontenot, Zamari Burrell, DeJaylon Beal and James Preston finished eighth with a time of 43.33 seconds.
 
In the 200m, Zamari Burrell finished ninth in 21.82 seconds, Tyler Fontenot finished 32nd in 22.72, DeJaylon Beal finished 44th in 23 seconds flat, and Riley Garcia finished 47th in 23.15.
 
Giovanni Rios finished 10th in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.48, Damion Jackson was 17th in 4:18.48 and Roman Mai was 34th in 4:35.70.
 
In the preliminaries of the 100m, Zamari Burrell finished 13th with a time of 10.74 seconds. Tyler Fontenot finished 19th in 10.90, DeJaylon Beal finished 36th in 11.14, Rhadarious Lomax-Spivey finished 45th in 11.32, Riley Garcia finished 47th in 11.36 and James Preston finished 54th in 11.51.
 
In the 5000m, Tytus Reed finished 18th in 16:07.20, Ian Doss was 20th in 16:13.28, Brenden Ellis was 22nd in 16:16.19, Zack Tibbits was 27th in 16:57.02, Shane Calvin was 31st in 17:04.63 and Brodie Bradshaw was 34th in 17:28.51.
 
James Preston finished 19th in the long jump with a mark of 6.39m and Jaq'Son Birdwhistle-Bush finished 42nd with a mark of 5.49m.
 
The Coyotes return to Wichita next weekend for the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State University at Cessna Stadium.
