BALDWIN CITY – Kansas Wesleyan began play on Saturday in the Baker Labor Day Classic dropping a 2-0 decision to Morningside University.
Morningside netted its first goal in the 33
rd minute on a penalty by Yannik Vogel following a foul by the Coyotes.
The Coyotes held off a barrage of shots from Morningside in the second half until the Mustangs broke through again in the 79
th on a goal by Gustavo Dos Santos.
Morningside outshot the Coyotes 19-3 in the match.
Cayden Andersen had two of KWU's three shots in the match.
Santiago Pagnutti had nine saves in goal for the Coyotes.
KWU plays again on Monday against Southwestern Christian to wrap up the Baker Classic at Noon in Baldwin City.
