Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Sheresa Layton

Women's Soccer falls to No. 22 MidAmerica Nazarene

Saturday afternoon the Kansas Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team faced Mid American Nazarene in their forth game of the 2024 season at JRI Stadium. 
 
The Coyotes stay in search of the first victory of the season after falling to the Pioneers 2-0. 
 
An early penalty shot opportunity for KWU a chance for a goal to start the game in the 10th minute. Valeria Lara took the shot for the Coyotes and was denied by Fiona Popetchnig of MNU.
 
Not long after the Pioneers would take the lead from a goal by Andrea Martinez off of a rebound like shot just after an attempt by her teammate Thayline Teixeria that was initially saved by the Coyote's goal keeper Isabella Galvan. This goal by MNU put them ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute 
 
MidAmerica Nazarene would add to their lead late in the first half after a speedy take away and one on one goal for the Pioneers by Emily Carrasco in the 43rd minute to stretch the MNU lead 2-0. 
 
Kansas Wesleyan worked hard to create some shot opportunities for themselves but just couldn't get a clean look at the goal though the Pionner defense. KWU closest shot would come from Caitlyn Carlos at the 78:12 mark. 
 
MNU outshot KWU 12-8 in the match. 
 
The score would remain 2-0 as the Coyotes remain in search of their first win of the season, having faced four ranked opponents to open the year.. 
 
KWU will face Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) on September 11th at 5:00PM in Oklahoma City.
