The Coyotes' three-game Kansas Conference road trip concludes this week with two contests.

THE SERIES 
  • The Coyotes have won six in a row against McPherson including a 72-65 victory November 20 inside Mabee Arena. They won 76-69 last season in McPherson and lead the series 23-17 since 2006.
  • KWU lost twice to Evangel last season but both games were close – 81-80 last November in Salina and 89-85 in overtime last January in Springfield, Mo. They are the only two games the schools have played.

KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes are 1-2 since returning from the holiday break. They defeated Tabor 94-66 in Mabee Arena before losing to Bethel 74-71 last Wednesday in Mabee and to Avila 73-70 Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.
  • Alex Littlejohn became the school's career scoring leader during Saturday's game. His 12-foot shot with 6:18 left in the first half gave him 1,545 points and surpassed Gary Cassel's previous record of 1,544 set 70 years earlier (1955). Littlejohn, a senior forward, scored 24 in the game and has 1,557 points during his KWU career. He's averaging 18.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and is shooting 52.3 percent from the field.
  • Littlejohn had 21 points and eight rebounds against McPherson in the first game this season. Izaiah Hale added 10 points. The Coyotes outscored the Bulldogs 50-30 in the paint.

McPHERSON AT A GLANCE
  • After starting the season 2-7 the Bulldogs have won three in a row and five of their last seven, most notably a 78-77 upset of Southwestern on Saturday in Winfield. They defeated Evangel and York before knocking off Southwestern.
  • Junior guard Curtis Rose leads a balanced offensive thrust with a 13.9 scoring average and is followed by senior forward Collin Storr at 12.8 and junior guard Tarrance Austin 10.3. Storr did not play in the game against KWU earlier this season.
  • McPherson averages 80.3 points and allows 80.4. The Bulldogs are shooting 42.3 percent as a team, 34.6 percent from 3-point range, and 77.7 percent from the free throw line.

EVANGEL AT A GLANCE
  • The Valor have won their last two games, the first an 85-84 victory over Southwestern last Wednesday in Springfield. They defeated Bethany 97-86 Saturday in Springfield. Evangel had lost six of seven before the two wins.
  • Junior guard Garrett Davault is the top scorer at 15.8 points followed by senior guards Josh Mason at 12.7 and Manrique Alvarado at 11.7. Davault is also the top rebounder at 5.0.
  • Evangel averages 79.8 points and allows 81.3. The Valor are being outrebounded by 3.6 per game but are forcing 14.5 turnovers. As a team they shoot 43.3 percent, 32.6 from long range.
