LIVE COVERAGE
RECORDS
  • Kansas Wesleyan 13-3, 11-1 KCAC
  • Bethany 9-9, 7-5 KCAC
  • Friends 12-6, 10-2 (vs. Bethel on Wednesday)

THE SERIES
  • The Coyotes have won two in a row after Bethany won the previous three. KWU prevailed 71-66 in December 2023 in Salina and 57-56 last February in Lindsborg. Wesleyan leads the series 27-13-1 since 2004.
  • KWU won 78-65 in the first game this season in December in Wichita after the Falcons won both contests last season. The Coyotes had won three in a row before the two losses last year but trail in the series 22-19 since 2004.

KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • KWU won all three games on its just-complete road trip – Avila 88-45, McPherson 65-50, and Evangel 86-81 on Saturday. The Coyotes have won 13 of their last 14 and are alone atop the KCAC standings one game ahead of Friends and two ahead of Bethel.
  • They defeated Avila and McPherson despite the absence of point guard LaMyah Ricks who was out with an injury. She returned Saturday and had 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Ricks averages 13 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
  • Ricks had 20 points, and six rebounds and Angel Lee scored 16 and Cat Bowman 11 in the first game against Friends. The game was tied after three quarters before the Coyotes outscored the Falcons 26-13 the final 10 minutes.

BETHANY AT A GLANCE
  • The Swedes lost to Friends 81-57 Saturday in Lindsborg and have dropped three of their last four. They defeated Sterling 60-49 last Wednesday in Lindsborg after falling on the road to Evangel and Oklahoma Wesleyan.
  • Senior Jaden Newfarmer is the top scorer (13.8) and rebounder (8.7). Janae Black-Harmon averages 8.6 points and 7.4 rebounds.
  • Bethany averages 63 points and allows 67. The Swedes shoot 38 percent overall, 25 percent from 3-point range and 67 percent from the foul line. They average 19.5 turnovers but force 17.3.

FRIENDS AT A GLANCE
  • The Falcons, the KCAC preseason favorites, are on a roll in advance of their big game Wednesday against Bethel. They've won five in a row and seven of eight – a big reason being the return of some injured players. Friends has scored at least 78 points in each of its last five games.
  • Lauryn McIver averages 14.7 points, Taylor Jackson 13.9, Abilgail Barr 12.1, Kori Babcock 11.7, and Rayland Garner 11.5. Jackson also averages 12.5 rebounds and Barr 8.5. Garner was the Falcons' leader scorer a year ago but has played in just six games this season due to an injury. She scored 20 off the bench against Bethany on Saturday.
  • McIver scored 18 and Barr 17 in the first game against KWU this season. Neither Jackson nor Garner played.
