McPHERSON, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball was swept by the No. 6 ranked McPherson College Bulldogs on Wednesday night at Holman Fieldhouse – 25-15, 25-21, 25-14.
The match opened with McPherson taking a 3-1 lead but the Coyotes came back and tied several times before taking a 7-6 lead on a solo block by
Kate Bebout. McPherson then took control of the set with a 10-0 run that made it 16-7 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Wesleyan was not able to recover from the long run, never getting closer than six the rest of the set.
The Coyotes had a 4-3 lead in the second set but five straight from McPherson made it 8-4 Bulldogs. Each time the Coyotes made a little run, McPherson answered right back. KWU could never get closer than three in the set, the last time at 24-21 before McPherson closed out the set.
McPherson rocketed out to a 9-0 lead to start the third set and the Coyotes couldn'r bounce back.
KWU hit .026 as a team led by 12 kills from
Rylee Serpan.
Sara Bebout had 12 assists and
Blair Pennington had seven.
Ella Schmid had 12 digs and
Tristyn Hedman had 10.
Kate Bebout had one solo and seven assisted blocks to lead the Coyotes.
KWU is back on the road on Saturday heading to Kansas City to take on Avila University. The Coyotes wrap up the regular season next week with home matches with Bethel on Wednesday and Friends on Saturday.
