THE SERIES
Against McPherson, the Coyotes have won eight in a row, including sweeping the meetings last year, 97-64 in Salina and 65-50 in McPherson. KWU leads the all-time series with McPherson 69-38.
Against Oklahoma Wesleyan, KWU leads the all-time series 19-15 and has gone 6-4 in the last 10 games. The Coyotes won the only meeting between the teams last season 83-73 in Salina.
LaMyah Ricks led the Coyotes with 22 points.
Jocelyn Hall had 12.
LOOKING AT THE COYOTES
- KWU enters this week with a 3-2 record overall and a 1-0 record in the KCAC after opening conference play on Saturday with a 93-75 defeat of the Ottawa Braves in Mabee Arena.
- The Coyotes shot 53 percent from the field and limited Ottawa to 37.8 shooting including 23.5 percent from 3-point range. Izzy McCool led the way with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists. Odessa Ozuna had 14 points, four rebounds and nine assists. Paige Chauncey made her season debut with eight points and eight rebounds.
- Junior guard Ozuna is KWU's leading scorer at 14.4 per game. McCool adds 14.2 per game. Freshman Raegann McDonald leads the Coyotes in rebounding at 7.4 per game.
- Ozuna leads the KCAC in assists and is ranked fifth in the NAIA. McDonald ranks eighth in the KCAC in rebounding.
LOOKING AT THE McPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS
- McPherson enters Wednesday's contest with a 6-1 overall record and a 1-0 KCAC record. After not winning a game last season, the Bulldogs are off to a hot start with wins over Hesston, Randall, Cottey, Central Christian and Nebraska Wesleyan in non-conference.
- The Bulldogs won their first KCAC game since February 21, 2024 on Saturday with a 70-66 win over Southwestern College in Winfield. Olivia Bell had 23 points and five rebounds. Mikah Hammerquist had 18 points.
- The Bulldogs are shooting 37.7 percent from the field, 24.1 percent from 3-point range and 61.7 percent from the free throw line. Bell leads McPherson in scoring at 13.3 per game. Hammerquist has played in the last two games only for the Bulldogs, but is averaging 10.5 per game.
- New coach Alex Moorehead spent four years at Ave Maria (Fla.) before joining the Bulldogs this season.
LOOKING AT THE OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES
- Oklahoma Wesleyan is off to a 2-2 start overall and a 0-1 record in the KCAC. The Eagles play at (RV) Friends on Wednesday.
- The Eagles fell to Tabor on Saturday 78-46. Tabor shot 55.2 percent from the field in the game. OKWU was led by Khassidy Warr with 13 points and four rebounds. Ashlyn Baker had 10 for the Eagles.
- OKWU is shooting 35.5 percent from the field, 29.1 percent from 3-point range and 71.7 percent from the free throw line this season.
- Gracie Alexander leads OKWU in scoring at 10.0 per game and Kamryn Phoenix averages 9.0. Warr is OKWU's leading rebounder at 6.3 per game.
- Heidi Messer is in her fourth season leading the Eagles.
