McPHERSON – All 19 players on the Kansas Wesleyan roster played at least one set for the Coyotes on Friday night against Central Christian as KWU cruised to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-14 win over the Tigers.
 
In the opening set, the Coyotes sped out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back pushing the difference to 19-10 on Ryan Wagner's block. After a Central point, KWU scored the final six of the set behind Jeremy Lapeze's serve and a kill by Justin Burras closed out the set.
 
In the second, the Coyotes burst out to a 6-1 lead but Central got back into it making it a 7-5 set. Then the Coyotes took control, rattling off eight straight points to take a 15-5 lead on Angel Diaz's service ace. After a Central point the Coyotes put together five more in a row capped by a kill by Matt Lucas to lead 20-6, and Burras closed the set with a block.
 
KWU led 4-0 to start the third set, and it was a 9-8 score in favor of the Coyotes when KWU went on a 9-1 run to take an 18-9 lead. It was 20-14 when the Coyotes scored the last five points of the match capped by Aidan Patton's kill to close it out.
 
Wesleyan hit .431 for the match including a .692 clip in the second set. Burras and Zayin Martinez led the way with five kills. Diaz had three service aces to go along with 13 assists. Ethan Ricketts had 10 assists and four digs.
 
KWU returns to action on Tuesday, hosting No. 5 ranked Park University at 7 p.m. inside Mabee Arena.
