KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes walloped Sterling 81-58 last Wednesday in Sterling but lost to Saint Mary 75-70 on Saturday inside Mabee Arena. The setback ended a six-game winning streak but KWU remains in first place in the KCAC, two games ahead of Friends and Tabor.
  • Jill Stephens scored 21 off the bench and Angel Lee had 14 and seven assists in the victory over Sterling. KWU shot 52.5 percent from the field and limited Sterling to 33.3 percent shooting. The Coyotes took a 57-51 lead into the fourth quarter against Saint Mary but couldn't hang on. They shot 29.9 percent for the game. Hampton Williams led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds.
  • Williams scored 15 and Stephens 13 in the first game against York. KWU led 50-31 at halftime and outrebounded the Panthers 43-30. Lee scored 16 and Williams had 14 and 17 rebounds, and LaMyah Ricks 11 points in the victory over Tabor in Salina. The Coyotes led 31-15 at intermission.

YORK AT A GLANCE
  • The Panthers downed Southwestern 71-60 on Saturday in Winfield and are 5-4 in their last nine games. They clobbered Bethany 83-51 last Wednesday in Lindsborg.
  • Destiny Shepherd leads the Panthers in scoring (15.5) and has a team-best 31 3-pointers. She scored 22 against Southwestern. Britney Schroer averages 9.8 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds.
  • Shepherd scored 16 and Schroer 14 in the first game against KWU but the Panthers were just 3 of 20 from 3-point range. Turnovers have been a problem – 17.8 per game.

TABOR AT A GLANCE
  • The Bluejays were the KCAC preseason favorites and have been a roll of late winning their last five games. They defeated Sterling 71-56 at home Saturday and McPherson 91-51 on the road last Wednesday.
  • As usual Tabor is winning with defense. The Bluejays' last five opponents have scored 56 or fewer points and the opposition is averaging 59.3 points and shooting 39.2 percent for the season.
  • Sophomore guard Lillian Veer leads a balanced attack with an 11.3 scoring average. Senior forward Alyvia Owens averages 10.0. The Bluejays were just 1 of 13 from 3-point range against KWU in the first game but shoot 34.3 percent on the season.
