LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis fell to No. 2 seeded Bethel College in the quarterfinals of the KCAC Men's Tennis Tournament on Wednesday at Lindquist Tennis Center.
Bethel came away with a 4-0 win in the play-to-clinch format of the tournament.
In doubles, Bethel won the point winning two positions as Jonah Bergeron and Jorge Gabriel Batista beat
Raul Davalos-Gavino and
Gavin Chavez 6-3; and James Menard and Bill Haoda beat
Paul Jittawait and
Jacob Phelps 6-3. The third doubles match was unfinished, with
Luke Craft and
Adam Hanson leading Petr Kollar and Zaidh Zihar 5-4 when the doubles point was decided.
In singles, Bethel claimed three wins to win the match. Kollar beat
Adam Hanson 6-0, 6-2 Haoda beat
Jacob Phelps 6-1, 6-0; and Rodrigo Sanchez Huerta beat
Jack Hanson 6-0, 6-2.
Three matches were unfinished. Davalos-Gavino and Batista were nearly deadlocked at a set each as Davalos-Gavino won the first 6-0, but was trailing 5-2 in the second when the match was called. Zihar was leading Craft 6-2, 4-2; and Bergeron was leading
Collin Phelps 6-3, 2-1.
The Coyotes finish the season with an 8-12 record.
