SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball fell in three sets to the Dordt University Defenders 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 on Saturday at De Witt Gymnasium.
In the opening set it was tied 4-4 when Dordt scored six straight points to take a 10-4 lead. The Coyotes closed the gap to 11-8 on a triple block by
Colin Lindo,
Bradley Neff and
Matthew Wagner, but Dordt scored the next four to take a 15-8 lead. KWU trailed 24-16 but fought off two set points before Dordt closed out the set.
Dordt scored the first four points of the second set, but the Coyotes got back within a point at 6-5.
Justin Burras later got the Coyotes within two points at 15-13 before Dordt pushed out to a 20-15 lead. Dordt would take the second set 25-18.
The Coyotes got off to a 6-2 lead to start the third set on a kill by
Jaron Lindsay, but Dordt turned the tides scoring 10 straight points to take a 12-6 lead. It was 21-10 Dordt when the Coyotes made a little run outscoring the Defenders 6-1 over the next seven points to make it 22-16. Dordt would close out the match winning the third 25-17.
Cooper Stepp led the Coyotes with six kills.
Ethan Ricketts had 13 assists.
Wesleyan will close out the season on Tuesday at No. 9 ranked Park.
