Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer played its first Kansas Conference home game of the 2025 season on Wednesday night against the York University Panthers. KWU got a goal in each half to come away with the 2-1 win at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
Both teams entered the match undefeated in conference play as KWU was 1-0-1 and York was 1-0.
The first half was evenly played with both teams having ample chances.
The Coyotes would get on the board first in the 45
th minute as
Brennen Lamont sent a ball in from the right side to
Leonardo Palencia at the far post who shot and scored.
In the 49
th minute, the Coyotes extended the lead. After
Emilio Rodriguez's shot was saved out of bounds,
Seth Flores took the subsequent corner kick and found the head of
Skyler Denny for the goal.
York got a goal in the 61
st minute from Asaph Achero.
Noel Zimbeva had three shots for the Coyotes to help KWU to an 11-8 advantage on shots.
Shae Wirt had four saves in goal.
KWU is back in action on Saturday heading to Springfield, Missouri to take on Evangel.
