SEWARD, Neb. – Kansas Wesleyan faced the Concordia Bulldogs in a second straight match-up of teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 on Saturday at Concordia's Bulldog Stadium.
Concordia would come away with a 3-1 win over the Coyotes.
The Bulldogs netted their first goal in the 23rd minute by Savannah Andrews that came off a rebound shot of her own initial try that was saved by KWU keeper
Isabella Galvan.
The Coyotes would hold the Bulldogs to just one first half goal despite being outshot 11-4 in the first 45.
Concordia pushed its lead out to 2-0 in the 53rd minute on a second goal of the match by Andrews.
Wesleyan made an offensive push in the second half, outshooting Concordia 9-3 but only getting three on frame. KWU's lone goal came in the 66th minute when
Emma Gervy converted on a penalty after a Concordia foul inside the box.
The Bulldogs added a big insurance goal in the 75th on a goal by Charli Prester.
The shots were nearly even for the match 14-13 in favor of Concordia. Gervy had three to lead the Coyotes. Galvan had seven saves in goal for the Coyotes.
Next up for the Coyotes is a home match with Midland University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
