THE SERIES
- KWU has dominated the series against McPherson of late winning nine in a row and 14 of 15. The Coyotes defeated the Bulldogs 66-52 on Nov. 19 in the first game this season in McPherson and have a 38-6 lead in the series since 2006.
- Wesleyan has gone 6-0 against Evangel since 2011. The Coyotes won 86-81 in Springfield, Mo. in the lone game last season.
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
- The Coyotes split two games last week, losing at Bethel 81-75 on Wednesday and defeating Avila 90-67 on Saturday in Mabee Arena. Freshman Anna Jueneman scored a career-high 24 in the loss to Bethel, but the Coyotes committed 24 turnovers. Emma Gerken scored a career-high 21 while Odessa Ozuna had 10 points and 10 assists in the victory over Avila. KWU had 12 turnovers and 24 assists on 33 field goals.
- The Coyotes shot 32 percent and had 23 turnovers in the first game against McPherson. They limited the Bulldogs to 26 percent shooting, won the rebounding battle 52-42 and forced 26 turnovers that resulted in 25 points.
- Ozuna leads the team in scoring (13.4) and averages 5.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists. Izzy McCool averages 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds and Jueneman 8.3 points on 55 percent shooting.
McPHERSON AT A GLANCE
- The Bulldogs have won their last two games after dropping seven in a row. They defeated York 82-77 on Wednesday and Southwestern 67-64 on Saturday, both games in McPherson.
- Olivia Bell averages a team-high 10.2 points and Maizen Gillam 10.2 – 12.6 in KCAC play. McPherson is shooting 34 percent overall, 26 percent from 3-point range and is being outrebounded by 5.2 per game. The Bulldogs also commit 20 turnovers per game but are forcing 21.
- McPherson is led by first-year coach Alex Moorehead. He was head coach at Ave Maria (Fla.) from 2021-25.
EVANGEL AT A GLANCE
- The Valor is a juggernaut having won its last 12 games including an 87-60 victory over Bethany on Saturday in Lindsborg. The lone loss was to Columbia 82-74 on Nov. 4 in Springfield, Mo. The Valor is 8-0 on the road this season.
- Evangel has scored at least 95 points nine times and surpassed 100 points five times. The Valor averages 96 points and is shooting 49 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range. Valor opponents are committing 26 turnovers per game.
- Carson Dillard and Heaven Shockley lead a balanced offense with 15.1 scoring averages followed by Ali Kamies at 14.0 and Cassidy Hambleton at 12.1. Dillard has a team-high 39 3-pointers and Shockley is the top rebounder at 7.1 per game.
