- The Coyote lost to Sterling 62-57 Dec. 3 in Sterling in the first game this season that ended their three-game winning streak against the Warriors. Sterling has a 28-18 lead in the series since 2005.
- KWU lost a 61-60 heartbreaker to Saint Mary in the first game Dec. 13 in Mabee Arena, has a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 and a 27-13 edge in the series since 2005.

- The Coyotes dropped a heartbreaker to No. 23 Friends 81-79 on Monday in Wichita. The Falcons took the lead on a basket with 5.2 seconds. Emma Gerken made a 3-pointer from the corner, but the shot was disallowed after a review showed she didn't get the shot off in time. Izzy McCool scored 18 points, Raegann McDonald 17, Gerken 15 and Anna Juenemann 14.
- KWU led 45-43 after three quarters against Sterling in the first game but couldn't hang on. The Coyotes shot 32 percent from the field and 22 turnovers that led to 19 Sterling points. KWU lost to Saint Mary on two free throws with 1 second left in the first game. Odessa Ozuna had 16 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Coyotes.
- Ozuna is the top scorer at 13.1 followed by McCool at 11.9 and Juenemann 9.4 but is averaging 11.7 points and 2.6 steals in conference play. McDonald averages 6.0 rebounds, Ozuna 5.8 and McCool 5.8. Ozuna also averages 4.9 assists.
STERLING AT A GLANCE
- The Warriors haven't played since an 88-70 victory over McPherson on Jan. 21 in Sterling. They've won their last two and three of four but are 3-3 in their last six. Sterling won 10 in a row at one point earlier this season.
- Karlee Jacobs scored 19 points – nine in the fourth quarter – and Mckenna Vogl had 14 and 12 rebounds in the first game against KWU this season. The Warriors rallied from an eight-point deficit with 7½ minutes left in the game.
- Sterling averages 77 points and has four double figure scorers – Kali Briar 19.0, Vogl 15.4, Neeva Johnson 14.7 and Jacobs 14.4. Briar has 50 3-pointers and Vogl averages a team high 6.7 rebounds followed by Johnson with 6.1.
SAINT MARY AT A GLANCE
- The Spires lost to Bethany 81-77 Monday in Lindsborg – their second consecutive setback after falling on the road to Ottawa 76-71 last Wednesday. They won seven in a row before the loss to Ottawa.
- Keely Barnard scored 19 points and Summer Wieneke 13 in the first game against KWU this year. The Spires outscored the Coyotes 33-27 in the second half despite shooting 32 percent from the field and getting outrebounded 55-37.
- Addison Tower averages a team-high 12.6 points and has 58 3-pointers. Barnard averages 12.4 points and Abby Wendte 11.8. Sage Sampras averages 9.0 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds. The Spires are scoring an average of 75 points and allow 69.
