THE SERIES
- Bethel has won two of the last three but KWU prevailed in 5 of the last seven. The Threshers won 81-75 Jan. 7 in North Newton in the first game this season. The Coyotes have had a 33-7 lead since 2005.
- The Coyotes have a 13-game winning streak against Southwestern and have won 26 of the 43 games played since 2006. KWU walloped the Moundbuilders 106-54 in their last meeting on Feb. 15, 2005 in Winfield.
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
- The Coyotes defeated York 77-66 last Wednesday and lost to Tabor 55-50 in a defensive struggle Saturday. Anna Jueneman scored 18, Odessa Ozuna 16 and Izzy McCool 14 and eight rebounds against York. McCool had 23 points and Ozuna 10 vs. Tabor. KWU is 2-5 in its last seven games, but the five setbacks have been by a total of just 22 points.
- At 8-10 and with four conference games remaining KWU is tied with Avila for ninth in the KCAC standings, one game behind Tabor (9-9) and two games behind Ottawa (10-8). The top eight teams in the final standings qualify for the KCAC postseason tournament that begins Feb. 25.
- Ozuna averages 13.3 points, McCool 12.5 and Jueneman 10.1 but is 12.1 against KCAC opponents. McCool is the top rebounder at 5.8, and Ozuna averages a team-high 4.7 assists. Jueneman is averaging 2.6 steals in conference play. She scored 24 and McCool 16 in the game against Bethel in January.
BETHEL AT A GLANCE
- The Threshers and Bethany are the hottest teams in the KCAC each having won their last eight games. Bethel defeated Avila 71-65 Saturday in Kansas City and upset 23rd-ranked Friends and No. 22 Evangel, the top two teams in the conference, during the current run.
- Kendall Locke is the leading scorer (18.4) followed by her twin sister Karlee (15.1) and Madyson McKinzie (13.8). Karlee Locke averages 7.4 rebounds and Kendall Locke 6.8 and 3.5 steals. Karlee Locke has a team-high 39 3-pointers. Karlee Locke and McKinzie scored 19 apiece in the game against the Coyotes in January.
- Bethel averages 78 points and allows 67 against conference opponents. Defensively the Threshers are forcing 20 turnovers and averaging 11 steals per game.
SOUTHWESTERN AT A GLANCE
- The Moundbuilders are enduring another rough season. They'll take a 16-game losing streak into their game against Evangel on Wednesday in Springfield, Mo. Southwestern lost to Bethany 78-53 Saturday in Lindsborg and dropped a 76-74 heartbreaker to York Jan. 31 in Winfield.
- The Moundbuilders average 60 points, allow 77 and are shooting 35 percent overall, 29 percent from the 3-point line and 68 percent from the foul line. They and have a minus-8.1 per game rebounding deficit.
- Macey Pond is the leading scorer (16.2) and rebounder (9.4). Kennedy Ford averages 11.0 points and Breanna Goad 10.2
