RECORDS
- Kansas Wesleyan 12-14, 9-11 KCAC
- Bethany 16-9, 14-6 KCAC
- Ottawa 15-11, 10-10 KCAC (at Saint Mary Wednesday)
THE SERIES
- Bethany defeated KWU 60-55 in Lindsborg on Jan. 21 and has won the last two games. The Coyotes won the three before that but are 4-6 in the last 10 against their rivals. Wesleyan leads the series 28-16 since 2005.
- KWU clobbered Ottawa 93-75 in November in Mabee Arena and has won the last four. The Coyotes have won 32 of the 46 games played since 2006.
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
- The Coyotes must win twice this week and will need some help in their pursuit of a berth in the eight-team KCAC postseason tournament. KWU and Avila are tied for ninth in the standings one game behind Ottawa and Tabor. The Coyotes own the tiebreaker over Avila, if necessary.
- Wesleyan stayed in the postseason hunt with a 55-42 victory over Southwestern on Saturday in Winfield. Izzy McCool had a gargantuan game finishing with a career-high 24 points and nine rebounds. She was 6 of 10 from the field and 10 of 12 at the free throw line.
- McCool had 19 points and six rebounds and Odessa Ozuna 14 points and nine assists in the first game against Ottawa. KWU outscored the Braves 51-36 in the second half. Ozuna and Anna Jueneman each scored 11 against Bethany in the game in Lindsborg but the Coyotes shot 35 percent and had 15 turnovers.
BETHANY AT A GLANCE
- The Swedes have suffered lopsided losses to Tabor 71-54 and No. 15 Evangel 94-68 in their last two outings. The setbacks ended an eight-game winning streak that included a nine-point victory over Friends last month in Wichita.
- Colbi Rignell and Becca Unruh scored 14 apiece in the first game against KWU. Bethany trailed 34-29 at halftime but outscored the Coyotes 19-9 in the third quarter.
- Rignell averages 14.0 points and Unruh 10.5, tops on the team. Bethany scores 70 and allows 70 per game. The Swedes shoot 42 percent overall, 31 percent from the 3-point line.
OTTAWA AT A GLANCE
- After winning five of six the Braves are on a two-game skid entering their game against Saint Mary on Wednesday in Leavenworth. They lost at home to Oklahoma Wesleyan 75-71 last Wednesday and on the road to Bethel 72-55, Saturday. OU is 9-4 in Wilson Field House this season.
- Kaelynn Duncan scored 20 off the bench and McKinely Kruger 16 in the first game against KWU. The Coyotes shot 53 percent from the field and Ottawa 38 percent.
- Dominique Schutte (12.5) and Kruger (12.0) are the leading scorers. Kruger also averages a team-best 5.3 rebounds. Ottawa scores 76 points and allows 69 per game.
