Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis opened the home portion of the season on Monday at Salina Tennis Alliance. The Coyotes came up just short against the Doane Tigers, losing 4-3.
In doubles, Doane would earn the doubles point winning two of the three matches. KWU got a time as
Hailey Adami and
Ania Bonner beat Isabella Castillero and Alejandra Prat 6-2.
Doane got wins as Maria Purizaca and Liz Calderon beat
Rylee Frye and
Hayden Bellamy 6-2; and Grace Schroller and Kat Johnson beat
Corina Salas and
Alivia Sherer 6-2.
The teams split the singles matches.
KWU got wins as Frye beat Johnson 6-1, 6-3; Sherer beat Schroller 6-3, 6-3; and Adami beat Castillero 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
Doane got wins as Purizaca beat Bellamy 6-1, 6-2; Calderon beat Salas 6-1, 6-3; and Prat beat
Isabella Myers 4-6, 6-0, 10-4.
KWU plays a NAIA non-countable match against Pratt CC on Wednesday, then takes on Hastings on Sunday at Genesis Salina.
