Kansas Wesleyan Baseball added seven more homeruns to its season total on Tuesday including three each by
Fernando Ruvalcaba and
Chris Finocchario as the Coyotes defeated McPherson College 13-7 at Dean Evans Stadium.

The teams played in their first KCAC midweek meeting of the season and will meet twice more in midweek games during the year.

The Coyotes got things going in the first inning as
Niko Olson led off the frame with a single and
Carter Allen followed with a RBI double to get KWU on the board. Two batters later Ruvalcaba hit his first homer of the day, a towering shot over the trees in center field, and Finocchario followed with a solo shot to make it 4-0.

The score held until the fourth when McPherson got two on the board.

Ruvalcaba got his second shot of the game in the fifth to make it 5-2.

The Coyotes added two more in the sixth as
Zac Goldenberg led off the inning with a walk and later in the inning Allen hit a 2-run homer to extend the lead to 7-2.

Finocchario hit a solo homer in the seventh and after Goldenberg tripled,
Coulson Riggs got a hit to drive in a run to make it 9-2.

McPherson capitalized on an error by the Coyotes in the eighth to help the Bulldogs bring in four runs and cut the difference to 9-6.

Wesleyan answered right back in the eighth. Allen led off the inning with a single and then scored on
Garrett Garfield's double. Ruvalcaba completed his hat trick with another monster homer to center and Finocchario made it back-to-back jacks for a second time with a solo shot.

McPherson got one back in the ninth but it wasn't enough as the Coyotes completed the victory.

Ruvalcaba and Finocchario had four each each, scored three times and combined to drive in eight of KWU's runs. Olson and Allen added three hits each.

Shaw Lee went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
Kayden Shivers got his first save coming into the game in the eighth with the score 9-6, and held McPherson to one run on two hits with a strikeout.

The Coyotes are back in action this weekend heading to Leavenworth to take on Saint Mary. The teams play one game Friday at 2 p.m., then a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
