THE SERIES
- KWU has won 10 of the last 11 against York, including an 88-71 victory Dec. 10 in York, Neb. The series is tied 13-13 since 2009.
- Tabor defeated the Coyotes 97-90 Jan 3 in Hillsboro in the first game this season. The setback ended KWU's nine-game winning streak against the Bluejays. Wesleyan leads the series 23-20 since 2006.
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
- The Coyotes split two games last week, defeating Sterling 77-65 Wednesday inside Mabee Arena, then losing to Saint Mary 69-65 Saturday in Leavenworth. Brandon Avedon scored 20 points, Evens Appolon 17 and Caiden Punt had 14 and 11 rebounds against Sterling. KWU shot 52 percent and limited Sterling to 38 percent. Against Saint Mary, Avedon scored 17 and Punt 12 but the Coyotes were hampered by 19 turnovers.
- Punt scored 32 and Appolon had 19 and 15 rebounds against York in the game at York. KWU won the rebounding battle 45-29. The Coyotes led Tabor 41-35 at halftime in Hillsboro, but the Bluejays scored 62 points in the second half while shooting 65 percent (55 percent for the game). Avedon and Appolon scored 19 apiece.
- The Coyotes enter the week tied with Avila for seventh place in the KCAC standings at 7-9. They're one game ahead of Ottawa (6-10) and two games behind Saint Mary (9-7). The top eight teams in the final regular season standings qualify for the conference tournament.
YORK AT A GLANCE
- The Panthers have lost five of their last six and nine of 11. They suffered an 82-55 loss to Southwestern last Saturday in Winfield after defeating Bethany 93-70 last Wednesday in York.
- Opponents are outrebounding York by 7.5 per game and outscoring the Panthers 82-71. The opposition is shooting 46 percent overall and 35 percent from the 3-point line; the Panthers shoot 42 percent as a team, 33 percent from deep.
- Senior guard Jadin Johnson averages a team-best 18.1 points and has a team-best 30 3-pointers. He scored 31 against KWU in the first game but was the only Panther in double figures. Freshman guard Logan Beckstrom is the second leading scorer at 9.2

- The Bluejays ended a seven-game losing streak with a 97-88 victory over Sterling on Saturday in Sterling but have lost 15 of their last 17. They have had a few good outings as evidenced by their win over KWU and a 78-76 loss to KCAC leader Oklahoma Wesleyan Jan. 26 at Bartlesville, Okla.
- Senior guard Marque Wilkerson is the leading scorer (15.5) followed by senior forward Niieihiii Blackbear (12.9) and freshman forward Khalil Allen (10.4). Allen scored 24, Wilkerson 22 and Jake Weaver 20 in the first game against KWU.
- Tabor averages 76 points and shoots 47 percent from the field as a team, but opponents are averaging 86 points. Turnovers – 18 per game – are an issue while opposing teams average 12.
