EMPORIA, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Tennis opened the spring portion of the season on Tuesday with a dual again NCAA Division II Emporia State University at the Kossover Complex. The Hornets would come away with a 7-0 win in the match.
In doubles, KWU got a win as
Alex Sherer and
Adam Hanson beat Gwendal Mazuay and Luke West 7-6 in a 7-3 tiebreak. ESU would get the doubles point though winning the other two matches.
Dawson O'Donnell and
Gavin Chavez lost to Anton Sarunic and Diego Calvo 6-0, and
Paul Jittawait and
Jack Hanson lost to Alexis Mattenberger and Roko Kacer 6-2.
Emporia State got wins in all six singles matches.
Sarunic beat Sherer 6-0, 6-1; Mostafa Elbasnaly beat
Adam Hanson 6-1, 6-2; Calvo beat Jittawait 6-1, 6-2; Mattenberger beat O'Donnell 6-2, 6-2; Kacer beat
Jack Hanson 6-1, 6-0 and West beat Chavez 6-2, 6-1.
The teams also played three extra matches that did not factor into the team result. ESU got wins in all three.
Adam Everett lost to Santi Torres 8-0;
Levi Mies lost to Hayden Herrera 8-1; and
Porter Anderson lost to Druveer Grover 8-1.
The Coyotes head to Sioux City, Iowa this weekend taking on Morningside on Friday and Mount Marty on Saturday.
