THE SERIES
  • The Coyotes have won 11 in a row and 14 of the last 15 against York. They won 73-60 Dec. 10 in York, Neb. earlier this season and lead the series 21-4 since 2005.
  • Tabor has won the last two, five of the last six and eight of the last 10. The Bluejays prevailed 81-74 in overtime Jan. 3 in Hillsboro in the first game this season and lead the series 26-19 since 2006.
 
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
  • The Coyotes split two games last week, defeating Sterling 88-82 Wednesday in Mabee Arena and losing Saint Mary 79-76 Saturday in Leavenworth. Five Coyotes scored in double figures in the Sterling victory led by Odessa Ozuna with 20 and Anna Jueneman with 19. Izzy McCool had a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double. KWU led Saint Mary 38-32 at halftime but couldn't hang on. Jocelyn Hall led the scoring with 15 points.
  • Emma Gerken scored 18 and Jueneman 15, both off the bench, against York earlier this season. Tabor outscored the Coyotes 17-10, in overtime in their game last month. Ozuna had a huge outing finishing with 30 points, five rebounds and four steals while McCool scored 15. KWU had a five-point lead with 6:17 left in regulation before Tabor rallied.
  • KWU enters the week in 10th place in the KCAC standings but is just a game behind Ottawa, Avila and Tabor who tied for seventh at 8-8. The top eight teams in the final standings qualify for the conference's postseason tournament.
 
YORK AT A GLANCE
  • The Panthers ended a seven-game losing streak with a 76-74 victory over Southwestern on Saturday in Winfield but have lost 14 of their last 17. Two of the wins were against Southwestern.
  • York averages 68 points and allows 75. The Panthers are committing 20 turnovers per game, and opponents are shooting 42 percent compared to their 38 percent. York shoots 62 percent from the foul line and 27 percent from the 3-point line.
  • Senior point guard Destiny Shepard averages 18.7 points – 19.2 against KCAC opponents – but is the only Panther scoring in double figures. She has a team-best 46 3-pointers. Aleisha Rand is next in scoring at 7.7 points.
 
TABOR AT A GLANCE
  • The Bluejays have won their last two games and three of four entering their game against Friends on Wednesday. They trounced Sterling 80-50 Saturday in Sterling shooting 54 percent from the field and limiting Sterling to 37 percent.   
  • Opponents are averaging just 58 points on 42 percent shooting and are committing 16 turnovers.
  • Senior forward Tayton Smith leads the team in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (10.0). She had 32 points and 13 rebounds against KWU in the first game this season. Junior guard Lillie Veer averages 11.8 points and had 17 against the Coyotes in January.
 
COMING UP
The Coyotes play Bethel inside Mabee Arena next Wednesday, then take on Southwestern on Saturday in Winfield.
