STERLING, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan softball dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Sterling College Warriors on Tuesday at Sterling High School. It was the conference opener for the Coyotes. Sterling won 3-0 and 7-2.
 
In the opening game, Sterling took a 1-0 lead on a first inning homer, and added single runs in the third and fourth innings.
 
The Coyotes struggled to get the bats going only tallying three hits in the game.
 
Brooklyn Lange, Cadence Mallet and Keira Hammen had KWU three hits. Alli Mickelsen took the loss allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings.
 
In the second game, Sterling jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and the Coyotes got on the board in the top of the second as Madison Geer reached on an error and then scored on Kama Seminavage's double.
 
Sterling added three in the fourth before the Coyotes added another run in the fifth on Kendell Wilcox's double.
 
The Warriors added one more run in the sixth.
 
Wilcox and Seminavage had two hits each for the Coyotes. Addie Herrera took the loss allowing seven runs, only four earned.
 
KWU heads to Nevada, Mo. to take on Cottey College on Thursday. KWU then returns home for the first time in three weeks hosting Bethel on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Salina South.
