Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis fell 6-1 to the Fort Hays State Tigers on Tuesday at Salina Tennis Alliance Center.
The Coyotes were able to get a point in the match as
Alivia Sherer went three sets with Janae Montoya, as Sherer got a 16-14 win in the tiebreaking set to capture the match. Sherer won the first set 7-5, then dropped the second 7-5.
KWU also got one win in doubles, but Hays was able to win the other two doubles contests to win the doubles point.
Corina Salas and Sherer defeated Molly Gaddis and Diana Souza 7-5.
Bethan Gill and Ines Latorre would beat
Hayden Bellamy and
Rylee Frye 7-5; and Ines Steeman and Montoya would beat
Hailey Adami and
Ania Bonner 6-2 in the other two doubles matches.
In the other singles matches, Gill beat Bellamy 6-1, 6-4; Gaddis beat Frye 6-2, 6-2; Latorre beat Salas 6-4, 6-4; Steeman beat Adami 6-4, 3-6, 10-6; and Angeliki Efthymiou beat
Adalyn Pfizenmaier 7-6, 6-2.
KWU returns to action on Thursday, hosting Bethel.
