Baseball takes out McPherson 13-2

McPHERSON, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan Baseball won its seventh-straight game on Tuesday as the Coyotes rolled to a 13-2 win in seven innings over the McPherson Bulldogs at Bulldog Park.
 
After falling behind 1-0 in the second inning, it was all Coyotes after that.
 
Blake Dale homered to lead off the top of the third inning as the Coyotes plated three in the inning to take the lead. After Dale's homer, Chase Aurand walked and later scored on Garrett Garfield's RBI single. Fernando Ruvalcaba drove in a run with a single to make it 3-1 Coyotes.
 
Wesleyan blew it open in the fourth with seven runs, all part of a 2-out rally. Dale started it with a single to short and then scored on Aurand's double. Niko Olson followed with a RBI single, Carter Allen reached on an error, followed by walks to Garfield and Ruvalcaba. A passed ball brought in a run and Chris Finocchario walked to reload the bases. A wild pitch plated another run, and a fourth straight walk, this one to Logan Arndt loaded the bases again. Zach Goldenberg was hit by a pitch to bring in a run and Dale walked in his second plate appearance of the inning to bring in the seventh run of the inning.
 
McPherson got a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 10-2.
 
In the seventh, the Coyotes plated three more runs. Allen homered, Garfield walked, Ruvalcaba walked and Finocchario singled to bring in a run. Arndt walked and Goldenberg followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 13-2.
 
The Coyotes only needed nine hits to score 13 runs. Dale was the lone Coyote with multiple hits with two. KWU batters walked 12 times in the game.
 
Connor Rhorer got the win for the Coyotes going five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
 
KWU will be back in action again this weekend, hosting Friends on Saturday and Sunday at Dean Evans Stadium. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., and a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
