YORK, Neb. – Wendy Zamudio's goal in the 57th minute was the difference maker as the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes defeated the York Panthers 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Zamudio's goal came after a corner and initial shot was saved by the York keeper. Zamudio was able to corral the ball and shoot, finding the back of the net.
The Coyotes had plenty of other chances in the match as well. Zamudio nearly had a first half goal as her shot in the 30th minute hit the post.
Wesleyan's defense was solid the rest of the match, limiting chances for York to try to build up to score.
KWU outshot York 11-5 in the match. Zamudio and
Brooklyn Velotta led the way with three shots each.
Bianka Waxman had four saves in goal for the Coyotes.
Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday hosting Evangel University at 1 p.m. at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
