Bill Neale has been the head baseball coach at Kansas Wesleyan since July, 2014.
In 2025, Neale led the Coyotes to a third straight KCAC title, the longest streak in school history of winning KCAC Regular Season Championships. The Coyotes were the No. 2 seed in the KCAC Tournament after sharing the regular season championship with Oklahoma Wesleyan. KWU won the KCAC Tournament championship, beating Tabor in the tournament final to advance to a fourth straight NAIA Opening Round appearance, another program-best streak. KWU would reach the championship series of the Opening Round in Upland, Indiana, but fell to Grand View University twice, just missing a second-ever NAIA Worls Series berth. KWU finished 41-15, marking a third straight season with 40 or more wins, another program first. KWU had three first-team All-KCAC picks in Tyler Favretto, Brett Maddock and Ritter Steinmann. KWU had nine All-KCAC honorees in total. KWU continued its strong commitment to academic success as well, with 20 Academic All-KCAC picks and 20 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In 2024, Neale led the Coyotes to a second straight KCAC Regular Season championship, setting a new KCAC record for conference wins by a team, finishing with a 32-4 record in KCAC play and a 48-12 record overall. The 48 wins sets a new KWU record for overall wins in a season. Neale's 2024 team won its last 27 KCAC games during the regular season and reached the championship game of the KCAC tournament. KWU then advanced to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, where the Coyotes won the Shreveport bracket and advanced to the program's first-ever NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. KWU finished ranked second in the NAIA in homeruns with 133 on the season, just missing last season's record of 136. The Coyotes ranked third in the NAIA in runs scored and fourth in slugging average at .617. Neale was chosen the KCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. KWU had 11 All-KCAC honorees, including six first-team selections. Jarrett Gable was named as a repeat Second Team NAIA All-America selection and Tyler Favretto was named to as a Third Team All-American. KWU also excelled academically, boasting 16 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and a KCAC-best 25 Academic All-KCAC selections. Neale picked up his 300th career win on March 9 over McPherson, and his 300th win at KWU on April 20 vs Oklahoma Wesleyan.
In 2023, Neale led the Coyotes to their first KCAC Regular Season Championshiip since 2011 as KWU posted a 27-6 record in the KCAC, setting a new record for single season conference wins, passing the previous record on 23 set by Neale's 2021 team. The Coyotes also set a new record for wins in a season, posting 44 wins during the year, passing the previous record of 40 wins by the 2009 team. The 2023 Coyotes featured the NAIA wins leader in Jarrett Brannen, with 14 wins on the season. KWU also set new records for homeruns and runs scored in a season, as the Coyotes finished third in the NAIA in home runs on the season. Jarrett Gable was named the KCAC Player of the Year, and set a new school record for RBI in a season with 82. The Coyotes reached the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, in Fayette, Mo., reaching the Opening Round championship series, losing to defending 2022 National Champion Southeastern (Fla.). Gable was also selected as a Second Team NAIA All-American. KWU had 14 KCAC Scholar-Athletes and nine Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In 2022, Neale led the Coyotes to a 35-29 overall record and a 17-16 mark in the KCAC. The 35 wins were the most for a KWU team since 2011, and the third highest single-season win total in school history. KWU reached the KCAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed, where after losing its first game to then No. 22 ranked Tabor, the Coyotes came back through the bracket, beating four other ranked teams to again face Tabor in the Championship Series. The Coyotes would win both series game to earn a berth in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, the first appearance for Neale and the program's first since 2011. The fifth-seeded Coyotes would win one game in the Opening Round at Oklahoma City. KWU had six All-KCAC selections. The team set a new school record for homeruns, finishing with 96, ranking ninth in the NAIA. KWU also set school records for RBI with 451, ranking No. 12 in the NAIA and 494 runs scored, ranking No. 15 in the NAIA. The Coyotes also had 12 Academic All-KCAC honorees and nine Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In 2021, Neale led the Coyotes to a 32-18 record overall and a 23-10 record in the KCAC. The Coyotes set a new school record for conference wins in a season and had their first 30-win season since 2016. Neale also picked up his 200th career win on April 10 against Bethany College. KWU earned the No. 3 seed in the KCAC tournament. Five players were named All-KCAC, including Kaden Sitzman, who was named to the Gold Glove team, and continued on to being named the NAIA Gold Glove winner at the pitcher position, KWU's first NAIA Gold Glover since 2009.
In 2020, the Coyotes were 12-11 overall and 3-4 in the KCAC, when the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. KWU won the season series over Oklahoma Wesleyan in the last home games before the pandemic shut down sports world-wide. KWU had six Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and six Academic All-KCAC honorees.
Neale's 2019 Coyote team went 25-24 overall and 16-17 in the KCAC, earning a spot in the KCAC tournament in Great Bend. During the regular season, the Coyotes took two of three games in the series with Oklahoma Wesleyan. KWU lost a heartbreaker to No. 12 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan in the tournament opener in 10 innings before going 1-1 over the remainder of the tournament. Four players were named All-KCAC, led by catcher Yodai Nakamura's second-team selection. Nakamura was also named to the Google Cloud - CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Five were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes and seven were named Academic All-KCAC.
In 2018, Neale led KWU to a 27-27 overall record and a 14-16 mark in the KCAC. Five Coyotes were named to the All-KCAC team including KCAC Gold Glove pitcher Jakob Sandoval. KWU had two Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and seven Academic All-KCAC honorees. Neale also collected his 100th career victory at Kansas Wesleyan against Saint Mary on March 3.
In 2017, the Coyotes were 26-27 overall and 8-18 in the KCAC. Five players were named to the All-KCAC team, including Peyton Deiters who was a Honorable Mention NAIA All-American, marking the third straight year a KWU player earned All-America honors. Joseph Hernandez-Eto earned a KCAC Gold Glove at third base. Deiters tied his single season homerun record with 18 and is among the career leaders in homers with 36.
In 2016, Neale led the Coyotes to a 32-25 overall record and a 19-17 mark in the KCAC. KWU reached the KCAC Tournament for a second straight season as the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Six players earned All-KCAC honors during the season and Jordan Rousselle earned the KCAC Gold Glove in centerfield. Rousselle also earned First Team Academic All-America honors. Peyton Deiters was named as a First Team NAIA All-American. The Coyotes enjoyed unprecendented hitting success during the season, tallying a school record 689 hits and 71 homeruns. Deiters set a new school record with 91 hits and tied the single season homeruns record with 18.
In his first season with the Coyotes in 2015, he led KWU to a 30-26 record overall and a 16-12 mark in the KCAC. The Coyotes made their first appearance in the KCAC Tournament since 2012 and first Championship game appearance since 2011. He coached the Coyotes to a .326 team batting average and 71 homeruns. Senior Daniel Bolanos set a new school records for homeruns in a season with 18. Bolanos was selected as a Second Team NAIA All-American. KWU also had four Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes in Neale's first season and Thomas Cunningham was selected as a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American. Outfielder Jordan Rousselle was named the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina 2015 Big Brother of the Year and also was selected as the 2014-15 KCAC Champion of Character Male Student Athlete of the Year. Neale also coached nine All-KCAC players in his first season with the Coyotes.
Neale spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, working for coach Ryan Bay. Neale coached the pitchers and catchers at Northwestern. In four seasons, Neale helped the Rangers drop their team ERA from 6.68 to 4.60.
Before Northwestern, Neale was head coach at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, leading the Warriors to a 24-27 record in one season. He also spent four years as an assistant coach at Bacone, three of those seasons with Ryan Bay, before becoming head coach.
Neale was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection while playing four seasons at Bacone. During his career he caught a perfect game and caught Johnny Spencer’s NAIA record 25 strikeout performance in 2004.
The Collingwood, Ontario, Canada native played for the Ontario Blue Jays, an elite traveling team from Ontario, Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bacone College in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
