Bret Ringer has been the Associate Head Baseball coach at Kansas Wesleyan University since July 2022.
Ringer will coach the infielders, hitters, and serve as recruiting coordinator. He spent the last three years as Head Baseball Coach at Mendocino College in Ukiah, Calif. During his time at Mendocino, the team experience two years that were shortened due to COVID in 2020 and 2021 with a combined 36 games played in the two seasons. In the 2022 season, the team played its first first full season with 40 games and had great offensive and defensive numbers.
In the Bay Valley Conference, Mendocino was Top-3 in runs scored, team batting average, and had the least amount of strikeouts as an offense. They were also Top-3 in fielding percentage and stolen bases with 127 in 40 games. During Ringer’s three years he moved on 15 players to four-year schools. Two of those players will be attending KWU this fall.
Before Mendocino College, Ringer spent seven years at Los Medanos College as assistant baseball coach. He coached the infield and ran the offense during his time there. LMC reached the state playoffs in six of the seven years he was on staff. The team made its best run in 2019 when they won the first conference championship in school history and reached the quartefinals in the state playoffs. Three of Ringer’s infielders were named Gold Glove winners and LMC had a fielding percentage of .960 or higher in five of the seven years and led the state in 2016 with a .972 team fielding percentage. Also five out of the seven years LMC was Top-3 in the state for stolen bases.
After graduating from Chico State, Ringer became an assistant coach at Butte College. His main responsibilities were working with the infielders, hitters and also playing an integral role in recruiting. During his two years at Butte he coached a Gold Glove second baseman and helped Butte to state playoff appearances in 2011 and 2012.
Prior to Butte, Bret was a student assistant coach at Chico State where he helped lead the team to the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2010.
Coach Ringer was born in Stockton, Calif. and graduated from Lincoln High School. He was an Area MVP as a senior and helped lead his team to two league titles. He then attended Feather River Community College where he earned All-American and Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore. In 2008 he signed a letter of intent to play third base at Chico State where he earned a Gold Glove at the national level for his outstanding defensive play.
Bret received his Bachelor’s degree from Chico State and earned his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Irvine.
Bret resides in Salina with his wife Emma and their children Fallon and Camden.
