In June 2022, Kyle Hiser was named as the Kansas Wesleyan Cross Country and Track and Field Program Director, and Head Track and Field Coach. Hiser previously served as the cross country and track and field coach at Kansas Wesleyan since July 2019.
In 2024-25, the Coyotes captured their first-ever KCAC Indoor Track Championship title. The Coyotes were led by four event wins by Wyatt Johnson (600m), Julian Avila (1000m), Keegan Lott (shot put) and the 4x800m relay team. KWU won the meet with 141 points, 12.5 better than Friends in second place. Saint Mary finished third. The Coyotes also had three All-America performances at the NAIA National Championships as the 4x800m relay finished fourth, Avila was seventh in the 1000m and Damion Jackson placed eighth in the 3000m. KWU had 12 Academic All-KCAC honorees and 12 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athtetes.
In 2023-24 Hiser led the Coyotes to a third place finish at the KCAC Indoor Championships. The KWUU 4x800m relay team was the KCAC Champion with a school record time of 7:46.38. KWU had eight All-KCAC performances at the Indoor Championships. The men's team had four qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor Championships and had two All-America performances led by Carter Huyser's third place finish in the 800m and the 4x800m relay team finished seventh to earn All-America honors. KWU had 12 Academic All-KCAC selections and 11 were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes in the spring as the NAIA combines Scholar-Athletes for both indoor and outdoor track.
In 2022-23, Hiser helped lead the Coyotes to a second place finish in the KCAC Indoor Championships, the program's highest ever finish in the conference indoor meet. Hiser was selected as the KCAC Indoor Track Coach of the Year, and assistant coach Shaquelle Lewis was named the KCAC Assistant Coach of the Year. Cole Parker was named as the KCAC Co-Field Athlete of the Meet. Parker (shot), Eryk Kyser (long jump), Simeon Faagai (weight), Mark Benjamin (60m) and the 4x800m relay team all qualified for NAIA National Championships. Indoor Track had seven KCAC Scholar-Athletes.
In 2021-22, the KWU men's indoor track team finished in seventh place in the KCAC Indoor Championships, the program's highest-ever finish in the championship. Kalil Murphy finished second in the triple jump highlighting the team's performances at the conference championships. Murphy and Eryk Kyser qualified for the NAIA National Championships in the triple jump, and long jump, respectively. KWU had a total of 16 Honorable Mention All-KCAC selections along with Murphy's All-KCAC nod. KWU had five Academic All-KCAC and selections and four Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In 2020-21, the men's indoor track team finished 11th in the KCAC Championships, but was without a couple top competitors the week of the event due to COVID-19 concerns. KWU did have a pair of All-KCAC performances at the event.
2019-20 was Hiser's first indoor campaign for the Coyotes. He led the Coyotes to a 10th place finish at the KCAC Championships. KWU saw a second place finish in the 1000m and a third place finish in the mile by Jacob Lovell to earn All-KCAC honors. Several others also earned Honroable Mention All-KCAC honors.
Hiser arrived at Kansas Wesleyan after spending two years as an assistant at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. While at Grand View, Hiser received extensive coaching experience, handling recruiting, and was tasked with helping build a positive culture within the programs for the Vikings.
While at Grand View he helped coach six NAIA All-Americans, and helped lead Grand View to a ninth place finish in the NAIA National Championships, the highest ever finish for the Vikings at the meet. Grand View set 13 new school records and won two Heart of America conference championships. Five teams he helped coach were named as NAIA Scholar-Teams and the program had 10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes under his direction.
Before taking the graduate assistant position at Grand View, Hiser competed for four years at Morningside College where he was a member of their cross country and track and field programs. As an athlete, Hiser was a four-time NAIA All-American as part of the Mustangs 4x800m relay team and was a 16-time All-GPAC selection in track & field. He was also a three-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
He graduated from Morningside in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and from Grand View with a Master of Science degree in sport management in 2019.
