In June 2022, Kyle Hiser was named as the Kansas Wesleyan Cross Country and Track and Field Program Director, and Head Track and Field Coach. Hiser previously served as the cross country and track and field coach at Kansas Wesleyan since July 2019.
In 2025, KWU finished second in the KCAC Outdoor championships, narrowly missing the 2025-double (winning ourdoor and indoor). KWU hosted the KCAC Championships for the first time since 2019 and hosted a full regular season meet for the first time since the 1980s on April 18 and 19. Assistant Coach Garrett Young was named as the KCAC Men's Ourdoor Assistant Coach of the Year for a second straight year. Wyatt Johnson brought home wins in the 800 and 1500m runs for the Coyotes and the 4x800m relay team was also a KCAC Champion. The 4x800m relay, Johnson, Julian Avila and Keegan Lott represented KWU at the NAIA National Championships. KWU had eight Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and 15 Academic All-KCAC selections.
In 2024, Hiser led the Coyotes to a fourth place finish at the KCAC Championships. Carter Huyser was the KCAC Champion in the 1500m and the 4x800m relay team was the KCAC champion as well. Several others earned All-KCAC honors. Assistant Coach Garrett Yong was named as the KCAC Men's Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year, makring the second time in as many years a KWU assistant coach has earned the honor under Hiser. KWU had four qualifiers to the NAIA National Championships with Huyser earning All-America honors in the 800m and the 4x800m relay team also earned All-America honors. KWU had 12 Academic All-KCAC selections and 11 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In 2023, Hiser led the men's track team to a second place finish at the KCAC Championships, as the Coyotes scored 137 points in the meet, one of the highest totals in program history. Cole Parker was named the Field Athlete of the Meet and assistant coach Shaquelle Lewis was named as the KCAC Assistant Coach of the Year for his efforts in helping the Coyotes with their strong finish. The Coyotes also had three NAIA National Qualifiers in Cole Parker, Eryk Kyser and Mark Benjamin. Kyser finished second in the long jump earning NAIA All-America honors. Parker placed 12th in the javelin and 13th in the shot put, and Mark Benjamin ran in the 100m preliminaries. KWU also excelled academically, with seven KCAC Scholar-Athletes and five Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Hiser arrived at Kansas Wesleyan after spending two years as an assistant at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. While at Grand View, Hiser received extensive coaching experience, handling recruiting, and was tasked with helping build a positive culture within the programs for the Vikings.
While at Grand View he helped coach six NAIA All-Americans, and helped lead Grand View to a ninth place finish in the NAIA National Championships, the highest ever finish for the Vikings at the meet. Grand View set 13 new school records and won two Heart of America conference championships. Five teams he helped coach were named as NAIA Scholar-Teams and the program had 10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes under his direction.
Before taking the graduate assistant position at Grand View, Hiser competed for four years at Morningside College where he was a member of their cross country and track and field programs. As an athlete, Hiser was a four-time NAIA All-American as part of the Mustangs 4x800m relay team and was a 16-time All-GPAC selection in track & field. He was also a three-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
He graduated from Morningside in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and from Grand View with a Master of Science degree in sport management in 2019.
