Sam Huffstickler has been the assistant softball coach since July 2022.
Before coming the Kansas Wesleyan, she was an assistant coach for the Central Missouri Jennies for one season.
Before UCM, she was the head coach at St. Charles Community College for two seasons. In the 2021, she led the Cougars to their first 20+ win season in the program since 2012 with a record of 24-26. In her first year at SCC which was cut short by COVID-19, Huffstickler led the team to a 5-7 record start, after the team had posted a record of 2-36 the season before her arrival.
Before SCC, she was an assistant coach at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa where she helped lead the Lady Mavericks to their first 40-win season and national ranking in program history. Â
She was a graduate assistant coach at Oklahoma Baptist University where she helped guide the Lady Bison to an NCCAA National Championship in 2017 in their last year of transitioning to NCAA Division II.Â
As a player, she attended Three Rivers College and played two seasons, earning a spot on the NJCAA Region 16 All-Tournament Team in 2013 and NJCAA Region 16 First-Team All-Defensive Team in 2014. She then attended Arkansas Tech University where she would finish her education and playing career. She was part of the 2015 Golden Suns team to qualify for a NCAA Regional. In her senior season, the Golden Suns were the 2016 GAC regular season Champions, Regional Champions and Super Regional runner-up.Â
She graduated from TRC with her Associate’s degree in 2014, Bachelors of Professional Studies in Public Relations from ATU in 2016, and her Masters in Sports Administration from East Central University in 2017.
Coach Huffstickler is married to her husband Tyler who is on the baseball coaching staff. They have two dogs, Jax and Hazel and are expecting their first child in July 2022.Â
