Ryan Showman has been the head women’s basketball coach at Kansas Wesleyan since September, 2012. 

In 2023-24, the Coyotes finished 17-13 overall and 14-8 in the KCAC. KWU was the No. 4 seed in the KCAC Tournament and knocked off Evangel in the quarterfinals before facing Tabor College in the semifinals. KWU opened the season with a 72-63 win over Bellevue Unviersity, and also picked up a win over Oklahoma City University before opening conference play. The Coyotes had three All-KCAC honorees with LaMyah Ricks earning a spot on the Second Team, Jill Stephens on the Honorable Mention team and Odessa Ozuna on the All-Freshman team. Rick was also named as a Honorable Mention NAIA All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. KWU had 10 Academic All-KCAC honorees and nine Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes. 


In 2022-23, Showman led the Coyotes to a 19-10 overall record and a 17-5 mark in the KCAC. KWU finished third in the KCAC. After dropping the first five games of the season, the Coyotes went 19-5 the rest of the way and reached the quarterfinal round of the KCAC Tournament. Showman picked up his 200th career win in the January 11 win over Southwestern, as he continues to set a new record for most wins in KWU history with every victory. KWU had three All-KCAC performers on the season and continued to excel academically as eight were named KCAC Scholar-Athletes and six were named as Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes


In 2021-22, Showman led the Coyotes to another 20-plus win season finishing 21-11 overall and 15-9 in the KCAC. The Coyotes finished tied for fifth in the conference race. KWU won its first-round KCAC game and defeated Friends in the conference quarterfinals before reaching the conference semifinals facing No. 12 ranked Sterling. During the season, KWU had several career records broken as Amanda Hill set a new career scoring record, and Kelcey Hinz set new career records in rebounding, blocks and blocks per game average. Hinz (first-team) and Hill (second-team) were named to the All-KCAC teams. Hinz was named as the KCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Both Hill and Hinz were also named as NAIA All-Americans. In May, Showman was named as a Most Impactful NAIA Women's Basketball Coach by Silver Waves Media. Eight were named to the Academic All-KCAC teams and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. 
 

In 2020-21, Showman led the Coyotes to a 16-11 overall record and a 13-11 mark in the KCAC, amid a wild season affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. KWU reached the KCAC Semifinals, facing No. 9 ranked Sterling. Kelcey Hinz and Amanda Hill were named All-KCAC second-team, and Gabby Mureeba was an honorable mention selection. Hinz also was named to the All-Defense team and LaMyah Ricks was named to the All-Freshman team. 
 

In 2019-20, KWU won the KCAC Regular Season Championship outright for the first time in school history, finishing with a 21-3 record in the conference. KWU also had a 26-6 overall record when the season was abruptly halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Coyotes made a second straight appearance in the NAIA National Championships, winning their first round game over Mayville State before the pandemic shuttered the tournament. On January 11, Showman became KWU's all-time wins leader when the Coyotes beat Oklahoma Wesleyan. Showman also earned several other honors during the season, including being named Lonnie Kruse KCAC Coach of the Year, and was the WBCA-NAIA Region 2 Coach of the Year, making him a finalist for the WBCA-NAIA National Coach of the Year. He was also named as the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Women's 4-Year College Coach of the Year. Kelcey Hinz was selected as the KCAC Newcomer of the Year and a third-team NAIA All-American. Hinz and Amanda Hill were selected as Honorable Mention All-Americans by the WBCA. KWU had five All-KCAC selections as Hinz and Hill were on the first-team, Courtney Heinen on the second-team, and Haleigh Bradford was honorable-mention. Gabby Mureeba was named to the all-freshman team and Hinz earned a spot on the all-defense team. Eight student-athletes were named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and nine were named Academic All-KCAC.
 

In 2018-19 KWU posted a 21-12 record overall and was 18-6 in the KCAC, finishing third in the conference. KWU reached the conference semifinals where they faced Sterling College. The Coyotes received an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships where they faced No. 5 ranked College of the Ozarks. Wesleyan's 18 conference wins is the most in program history, and the 21 wins marked the third time a Showman-led team has reached 20 wins in a season and only the seventh team in school history to reach the milestone. Four players were named to the All-KCAC teams, led by first-team and KCAC Newcomer of the Year Kayla Kivinski. Sydney Mortensen was named as a Google Cloud-CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. Five were named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and seven were named Academic All-KCAC.
 

In 2017-18, KWU posted a 15-16 overall record and 12-10 in the KCAC. The Coyotes picked up two victories over defending conference champion Tabor during the season, sweeping the season series with the Bluejays. Coach Showman also picked up his 100th career victory on January 3 against McPherson College. Courtney Heinen and Gabbie Miller were selected as Honorable Mention All-KCAC performers during the season. Three student-athletes were named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and five were named Academic All-KCAC.
 

In 2016-17, the Coyotes went 20-12 overall and 14-8 in the KCAC. The Coyotes won 20 games for the first time in two years and the second time under Showman's leadership. KWU earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament, hosting Ottawa in the quarterfinals, beating the Braves and advancing to the semifinals against Friends. KWU had two selected to the All-KCAC teams and Karlie Steinle was selected as a Honorable Mention NAIA All-American, the first All-American for the Coyotes since 2013 (Alecia Smith). The Coyotes also had two Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes and seven Academic All-KCAC selections.
 

In 2015-16, the Coyotes were 17-14 overall and 8-12 in the KCAC, earning the No. 8 seed in the KCAC Tournament. Three players were named All-KCAC including Jordyn Alexander being named to the second team, while setting a new school record for single season field goal percentage and leading the KCAC in field goal percentage and blocks. Karlie Steinle and Jenna Farris received Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors. Five players were named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes and the Coyotes earned NAIA Scholar Team status and earned a spot on the WBCA AcademicTop 25 Honor Roll for a second straight year.
 

In 2014-15, Showman led the Coyotes to a 20-10 record and a No. 3 seed in the KCAC Tournament. He coached three All-KCAC players in Vanessa Kresin (Second Team), Jenna Farris (Third Team) and Karlie Steinle (Honorable Mention). His Coyote team was also ranked No. 5 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association NAIA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll and the Coyotes were one of 11 KWU teams to earn NAIA Scholar Team honors. 


In 2013-14, Showman’s Coyotes went 16-15 overall and finished fifth in the KCAC standings at 10-8. The Coyotes reached the semifinals of the KCAC Championships.


In Showman’s first season leading the Coyotes in 2012-13, Wesleyan was 18-13 overall and 11-7 in the KCAC, finishing third, and reached the KCAC Tournament Championship game against Southwestern College at Hartman Arena in Park City. 


Showman was an assistant for former KWI coach Gordon Reimer starting with the 2007-08 season. During his tenure as assistant coach, Wesleyan went 110-47 overall and 68-22 in the KCAC. Showman also led the Wesleyan golf programs from 2007 to 2009.
    

Showman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from KWU in 2004 and earned his Master of Science in Physical Education from Emporia State in 2008. Showman was a three year letter winner on the men’s basketball team under coach Jerry Jones. Before returning to KWU, Showman taught extensively in the Salina school district, teaching physical education at Schilling and Heusner Elementary Schools.
   

Coach Showman resides in Salina with his wife Jenni and daughters Kinsleigh and Ryleigh.
