Brian Vancuren has been the women's tennis head coach since May 2022.
2023-24 saw a six-win improvemnet from the previous season with an 8-12 overall record and picked up one more KCAC win from a season ago. The Coyotes got wins over Evangel, Tabor and Southwestern during conference play. KWU had six Academic All-KCAC and six Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the season.
In 2022-23, his first season leading the Coyotes, he led the team to a 2-14 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the KCAC. He picked up his first career win against Friends University on March 25 and added a second against Tabor on April 17. Michaela Crowe was named to the All-KCAC second-team. Three student-athletes were named as KCAC Scholar-Athletes and as Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
He has been at Kansas Wesleyan since the start of the 2021-22 season. In his first year at Wesleyan, Vancuren served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs, then took the lead role for the women’s team beginning with the 2022-23 season.
Before arriving at Kansas Wesleyan, Vancuren served as the head tennis coach at Maize South High School for three years. During his time at Maize South, he was named coach of the year two times in 2019 and in 2021 on the boy’s side and also led the team to their first league title and two state Runner-Ups.
Vancuren, a native of Conway Springs, Kansas, played collegiately at Southwestern College where he double majored in Accounting and Business Administration and was a three-time All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete and a two-time team captain. Vancuren stepped away from playing his senior year and became a student coach and helped Southwestern's women's tennis team win its first ever KCAC Championship.
Vancuren holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration at Southwestern College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education at Fort Hays State University.
