David Toelle has been the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Communications at Kansas Wesleyan since 2001.
A native of Reading, Kan., Toelle came to Kansas Wesleyan in the fall of 1996 after graduating from Northern Heights High School in Allen, Kan.
Toelle earned his first degree from Kansas Wesleyan, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems in December, 2001, but realizing that a career in athletics was where he felt most comfortable, he turned his attention to earning a second degree from KWU, this time a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management, completed in the spring of 2008, and continues to work towards completion of a Master of Business Administration with Sport Management emphasis degree.
As sports information director, his duties as encompass a wide spectrum by working closely with the local media in coverage of KWU athletic events. He ensures that results are accurately reported and historical records are maintained, management of the athletics website which Toelle helped develop and launch in 2010, produces media guides, game day programs as well as recording statistics at games, public address announcing at games, production of award posters and presentations, writing press releases, taking photos and several other tasks too numerous to mention.
In addition to his work with the university, Toelle utilizes his skills to provide services for community. Since 2002, he has served on the Salina Bicentennial Center and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce’s Basketball Task Force as the head statistician and statistical staff coordinator for the basketball tournaments held in March at the Bicentennial Center.
Toelle served as conference statistician for the KCAC for seven years and has served as tournament statistician for the conference in soccer, basketball, baseball and softball.
Toelle was awarded the Kansas Wesleyan Young Alumnus Award in September. 2011 and received the KCAC SID of the Year award in 2012, 2020 and 2023.
Toelle resides in Salina with his wife Jennifer and children Trae and Tenille.
