Box Score Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis played its first dual of the season on Wednesday, hosting the Fort Hays State Tigers at Salina Tennis Center. FHSU would come away with a 7-0 win over the Coyotes.
At doubles, the Coyotes dropped all three matches as
Michaela Crowe and
Kristi Henderson lost to Irina Alfonso and Fiorella Mendez 6-0;
Camrynn Bagwell and
Alivia Sherer lost to Ines Latorre 6-0; and
McKinnley Evans and
Danielle Slack lost to Grace Unruh and Heidi Lubbers 6-3.
In singles, the Coyotes lost all six matches, but fared well in competition, especially the four newcomers in the middle of the lineup. At No. 2, Evans lost to Shreethika Vangala 6-4, 6-3; at No. 3 Sherer lost to Mendez 6-4, 6-2; and Slack lost to Unruh 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5. In the other three singles matches, Crowe lost to Alfonso 6-1, 6-1; Bagwell lost to Latorre 6-0, 6-0; and
Kaitlyn Wrye lost to Ines Steeman 6-0, 7-5.
Up next for the Coyotes is the KCAC Individual Flighted Tournament this weekend in Lindsborg. Student-athletes will face other KCAC competition in their individual flights.
KWU then hosts the ITA Central Regional September 22 through 24.
